MARK T. MALONE, M.D., a native Texan, is a board certified pain specialist. In 2002 he began his new company, Advanced Pain Care, in Austin. Prior to starting his own practice he was a member of a group practice for 12 years. In addition, he was a Clinical Instructor at Baylor College of Medicine for six years. Dr. Malone has successfully treated thousands of patients in acute and chronic pain.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree, with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his Medical Degree at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1982. Dr. Malone’s Internship and Anesthesiology training was at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a Pain Management Fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in 1998. He is Board Certified in Pain Management with a subspecialty Certification in Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. This is the only board certification for pain management endorsed by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Dr. Malone is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Spinal Intervention Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Travis County Medical Society.
He and his wife, Tracy, live in Austin with their three children. He enjoys water skiing and bicycling.

DANIEL A. FREDERICK, M.D., is a board certified pain management specialist. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas in Austin in 1993. He then went on to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas where he received his M.D. in 1999. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 2003. After working as an anesthesiologist for 2 years, he went on to complete a pain management fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2006. After practicing pain management in Dallas, Texas for one year, Dr. Frederick joined Advanced Pain Care in 2007.
Dr. Frederick is a member of the Texas Pain Society, the International Spine Injection Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

HANS E. BENGTSON, M.D., is dual board certified in both Anesthesia, as well as Pain Medicine. He was born and raised in Austin, growing up and graduating from Westlake. He attended the University of Texas at Austin until 1994. He then attended Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he received his Medical Degree in 1998. He completed his anesthesiology residency, as well as his fellowship training, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 2003. Prior to moving back to the Austin area, he worked as a private practice Pain Medicine physician in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Bengtson joined Advanced Pain Care in 2008.
Dr. Bengtson is a member of the Texas Pain Society, the International Spine Injection Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Bengtson enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and Texas BBQ.

ASIM S. AIJAZ, M.D., is a board-certified pain management specialist. Dr. Aijaz, a native of Arkansas, received both his Bachelor of Science and his Medical Degree from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Aijaz completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He went on to complete an Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at New York Medical College and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Manhattan. Dr. Aijaz joined Advanced Pain Care in 2008.
Dr. Aijaz is a member of the Texas Pain Society, the International Spine Injection Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Pain Society, and the American Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Aijaz enjoys traveling, playing sports, reading, canoeing, fishing, and hiking.
